Moving on up :)

With Caroline being able to hold her head up and rolling over now we are trying more things out with her. She sits in her Bumbo for short periods of time everday. She likes it for about two minutes at a time though :) She likes to lay down more and move everywhere! She actually rolled from back to belly and then surprised everyone in attendance when she continued the roll and went belly to back! I was sadly napping on the couch and missed the moment and my little queenie has refused to do it since but I had many witnesses to confirm it for me.

She is sitting in her high chair while mom and dad eat. This is SOOO nice for both of us to be able to eat at the same time without holding her if she was awake. She is FAR from eating solids yet but the high chair works for other purposes than eating right now.

She has incredible leg strength and is having much more fun and being way more active in the bathtub. A few weeks ago I took the 'baby sling' out of her tub and she now sits right in the water. She is constantly pushing up off the sides of the tub and trying to throw her legs over the side! She realizes that if she moves her legs fast enough she splashes and cracks herself up doing it. She has always enjoyed bathtime but we can really SEE that she is having fun with it now.

And, our water baby took her first 'dip' in a pool when we went with my parents and sister to an indoor water park/resort in Ohio recently. She looked so cute in her suit and she liked putting her feet in the water and smiled and splashed when I sat her down in it. Of course, it only lasted until I put her back on dry land where I felt safer with her for now :)

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling

Caroline rolled over today! I was on the floor with her trying to get her to play with her toys and hold them when the pictures on the tv caught her eye and she was entranced. I joined her and began watching it too. Then, a bit later I looked at her and she was up on her side trying to get a toy! She got the bottom half of her body completely turned so her knees were touching the floor and she began using her knees and feet to push herself more. All in all it took over 5 minutes but I was encouraging her and soon her shoulders were both off the floor and she fell forward. She then began screaming...she was face down but couldn't get her arm out from under her. So, she rolled but her arm still gets stuck when she does it. I was so excited and even cried. That lasted only a little while since the rest of the afternoon every time I put her on the floor to play she tried some more and would get very frustrated...and crabby. Plus if that wasn't enough fun I can't put her in her bouncy seat without her trying to propel herself out of it and if changing a diaper was hard when all she could do was wiggle it has gotten progressively harder:) And I'm so happy about it! I didn't get a picture of the actual event since I didn't want to take my eyes off of her but these are from after she actually rolled when she was trying again.

Daddy and Caroline's Day of Fun!

This past Saturday I attended a bridal shower which also meant something else...Daddy had to parent on his own.

I remember one time getting upset with some guys I used to work with when he said he had to 'babysit' his children for some reason. Uh, when you are the FATHER it isn't babysitting! It's being a parent. And Brad is a great one and was really excited to have her to himself. I made sure the diaper bag was ready for when he had to take her out, made sure he knew where everything was for her if she needed it and picked out a very special outfit for this big day. He even learned how to give her a bath on his own a few days before (usually he only sits in the bathroom and watches me when I give her a bath) just in case she got messy while I was away. I defrosted some milk and kissed my two loves good-bye. I of course cried but made it through the day. I also put my cell phone on the table next to me as soon as I got to the shower and checked in once but it wasn't needed. They had fun! She slept for him, ate for him, played with him and only fussed a little bit. I of course couldn't wait to get back to them but I had a GREAT afternoon out! But, who wouldn't want to rush home when this is what you left there...

Caroline also went to the doctor last week for her two month checkup-yes she is almost three months old now so we got both done at once. She got her first set of post birth shots :( she of course cried as did I but by the next morning things were back to normal. At 11 weeks she weighed in at 13 pounds 5 ounces and is now 24 1/2 inches long and her head is 16 inches. She is now in the 75% for her age group. We love our healthy girl!!

Baby's first Easter!!

Caroline had one busy weekend!! Mommy wanted to make sure we did ALL of the important traditions and events that we always do to make it a REAL Easter for her right from the get go. We dyed eggs at Busia's house, attended the Chrism mass with the Archbishop, went to Good Friday services, blessed our Easter food and went to mass on Easter Morning. The beautiful weather made for a GREAT day and mom went all out (and had fun!) on Caroline's Easter outfit and it was A-DORE-A-BLE!! The Easter bunny was very good to her and she got several Easter treats this year. While we hunted for eggs for her this year we all laughed about how she will probably be knocking everyone else over next year to find the loot :)

Baby's First Christmas??

As I had mentioned almost a year ago now, my brother is in the Navy. He left last May for Kuwait and obviously missed A LOT of things with the family. He unfortunately was not here for Caroline's birth but was very excited to meet her when he came home and she was 8 weeks old. To make up for some important things that we didn't get to do as a family we decided to make our 'welcome home' dinner our Christmas dinner instead. Mom was making our traditional Polish Christmas eve dinner of fish and pierogi and we were going to eat on the Christmas dishes and she had even bought some cut and bake Christmas cookies and some hershey miniatures for Larry per his request after the holidays so we had those too! At the last minute we decided to even put up the tree and some other decorations to add to the fun. We all dressed up like it was Christmas and enjoyed our very sunny, very warm Christmas 2009as a family in March of 2010 :)
